This Privacy Policy explains how About Flying handles information when you use the About Flying iOS app, website, support form, and related services.

Summary

About Flying does not require an account. Normal calculations are performed on your device. About Flying does not sell personal information, use third-party advertising tracking, or include a third-party app analytics SDK.

Normal calculations and operational inputs are processed on your device. The app may contact About Flying servers automatically to retrieve Notice Board content. Those notice requests do not include your user-entered route, waypoint, airport, altitude, Crew Rest, or calculator inputs. Feedback and crash-report details are sent only when you choose to submit them; approved submissions that cannot be sent immediately may be stored locally and retried later.

Information processed in the app

About Flying processes time calculations, duration calculations, clock and time-zone inputs, Crew Rest planning data, Sunrise & Sunset inputs, route and waypoint information, preferences, and other settings needed to provide the app’s features.

These values are normally processed and stored on your device. They are not routinely uploaded to About Flying servers.

About Flying does not automatically collect advertising identifiers, persistent device identifiers, account identifiers, or social-login information.

If you use the Crew Rest QR scanner, the camera is used only to read a QR code. The QR payload is processed on the device. About Flying does not save camera photographs or upload camera images as part of QR scanning.

Export, copy, paste, QR sharing, and import actions are controlled by you through iOS. Information that you choose to share may contain operational or other sensitive details.

Feedback

If you submit ordinary in-app feedback, About Flying may receive:

• the feedback category;
• the message you write;
• an optional reply email address;
• the app name, version, build number, and submission timestamp; and
• basic iOS and device information if you choose to include it.

Your message is controlled by you. Do not include passenger information, company-confidential information, security credentials, or unnecessary operational details.

If feedback cannot be sent immediately, the app may store it locally in its pending-feedback queue and retry when connectivity returns. You can clear pending feedback through the app’s data controls. Pending submissions expire 90 days after their original creation time.

Crash reports

About Flying may detect that a previous session did not close normally and offer you the option to send a crash report. A crash report is not sent unless you choose to send it.

A crash report may contain the app version and build, iOS version, generic device class, broad processor architecture, a report-specific identifier, timestamps, the last app surface, controlled diagnostic breadcrumbs, bounded memory information, crash classification, and limited native crash details such as binary identifiers and relative stack information.

Crash reports do not automatically include your account information, route, waypoint, airport, altitude input, precise location, or raw operational text. Crash reports do not include a contact email address unless you separately provide one through another feedback submission.

Website support

When you actively submit the About Flying website support form, your name, email address, subject, and message are processed so that we can respond to your enquiry. Cloudflare processes the request and provides spam protection. Resend handles outbound email delivery.

The message may remain in the receiving support mailbox after delivery. Information is submitted only when you choose to send the form; simply opening or filling it does not submit these fields.

Please do not submit sensitive operational, passenger, or company-confidential information through the website support form.

How information is shared

About Flying does not sell personal information.

Information may be processed by service providers needed to operate the website, prevent abuse, deliver support messages, host infrastructure, or distribute the app through Apple. These providers may process information in countries other than your own.

About Flying does not use submitted information for advertising profiles or unrelated marketing.

Retention and deletion

App settings and calculation inputs remain on your device until you change, reset, or delete them, or remove the app.

Unsent crash candidates have a local retention period of up to 30 days, with expiry applied when the app accesses them. Feedback or crash reports that you have approved for submission but that remain queued because delivery failed have a local retention period of up to 90 days from their original creation time, with expiry applied when the queue is loaded; approved submissions may be retried when connectivity returns. Submitted feedback and crash reports are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for support, diagnostics, security, legal obligations, and operation of the service. Service providers used to host infrastructure and deliver support messages may process and retain information according to their applicable service terms and retention practices.

Because the app does not use accounts or persistent report-to-user indexes, it may not always be possible to identify an anonymous report for early deletion. You may still contact us through the website support form with enough information for us to investigate your request.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of personal information held about you. You may also have the right to object to certain processing or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To make a privacy request, use the support form on the About Flying website. We may need to verify your request before responding.

Children

About Flying is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information handled through the app and website. No electronic transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, website, support process, service providers, or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date will be revised when material changes are made.
